Ammonium hydrogen difluoride (ammonium bifluoride) is a white, hygroscopic crystalline salt that dissociates in water to give fluoride (F⁻) and hydrogen fluoride (HF). In Analytical‑Reagent (AR) grade it is employed where high‑purity, highly reactive fluoride is required—most notably in glass etching, metal surface treatment, and selective silica dissolution.
