Sabouroud Dextrose Agar

Description:
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a selective medium designed for the cultivation of fungi, particularly dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds. It was originally formulated by Raymond Sabouraud for culturing dermatophytes and other pathogenic fungi. The high dextrose concentration and slightly acidic pH (around 5.6) favor fungal growth while inhibiting bacterial contaminants.
