Description:
Triple Sugar Iron (TSI) Agar is a differential medium used for the identification of Gram-negative enteric bacteria based on carbohydrate fermentation, gas production, and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) formation. It is especially useful for distinguishing members of the Enterobacteriaceae family, such as Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, and Proteus species.

Appearance:
Dehydrated medium is orange to reddish powder; when prepared, it forms a deep red-orange slant and butt agar in test tubes.
