Description:
Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (X.L.D) Agar is a selective and differential medium primarily used for the isolation and differentiation of Salmonella and Shigella species from clinical, food, and environmental samples. The medium contains xylose, lactose, sucrose, lysine, and ferric ammonium citrate, which together allow clear differentiation based on carbohydrate fermentation, lysine decarboxylation, and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) production.
